How I Remember Bede

Back then when I was younger, there was a man called Bede.
He was kind of old, and poor, was kind of slow, and needy.
He loved to watch the children , oh I guess he liked the sounds.
Only time I saw him smile, you see no one was around.
They say he fixed everything, and lawn mowers were his best.
Some folks called him a retard, and they said he was a pest.

New kids moved to town one day, they came here from the city.
He was wild and kind of rude, and gave nobody pity.
He talked back to the teachers, I never knew him fully.
When we were out at recess, just guess who was the bully?
Well Johnny came up missing, and his folks were all worked up.
Some accused Mr. Bede, then they said he killed their pup.

The rumors started flying, from kidnapping to assault.
Some said serial killer, “He’s a leader of a cult!”
These words got back to Bede, Hurt this kind and gentle man.
Wasn’t the kind to fight back, and he couldn't make a stand.
You could tell it got to him, by the way he hid away.
“That just shows he’s guilty!” we all heard somebody say.

And then Friday came and gone, Saturday came and gone too.
And before we all knew it. Sunday was a day gone too.
“I want this man arrested!” Johnny’s angry father said.
“Johnny’s nowhere to be found,  he is likely gone and dead!”
So the law went to Bede’s, and then they looked all around.
They called out Mr. Bede’s name, but they didn’t hear a sound.

A man found Bede’s  body, he was hanging from a beam.
This here man was scared to death, was not murderous or mean.
Now the sheriff got a call, from a driver of a bus.
He said he just found a boy, and surprising all of us.
So Mr. Bede has died for nothing, they called him the ol’ scapegoat.
Johnny’s dad finished yelling, Johnny cried then he asked him.
            “You never saw my note?”

Critique:Loved the story! Well, it is a terrible thing to happen, and i bet it does happen in real life. Good write. You'll like my novel Ron, (if I ever get my memoir done) I can actually put time into it. The theme has to do with similar circumstances. I have your query letter written, and I think I have found at least two literary agencies that are a good fit for you and your work. Give me until the weekend to finish up some things and I can forward you the letter I want to send out, k. I'm a big fan of your work!
