A Thousand Lifetimes

The words pour out of her heart, they are coming from somewhere deep within her, it is a primal need. A primal urge to tell all to this person that she feels like she can trust, this person that she confides in. There is something there for her, but at the same time there is not. There is no need to hide when she talks to her, there’s a deeper understanding here. But it is unspoken. She sits there reading, reading. Waiting, waiting. Be patient, patient darling. There! It goes, yes, it goes. She rips it apart, tears it down. The wall she sits behind, hides behind, it is falling. Crumbling just like her mind and heart. Everything she once knew is changing, everything is changing. Her heart beats her mind in this, so she decides to speak. She speaks with her heart, and her mind, all at once. For the first time in a thousand lifetimes. Something’s missing from them, and it’s thrilling and terrifying when she thinks that maybe the other is the missing piece. She can taste her on her lips, can feel her in her arms. It’s a memory from long ago, so long ago. Something inside her screams the others name, it shatters through the chaos of her mind and everything goes silent. Silent stillness, for her body is now still. She’s thinking, thinking long and hard. What to do? What should she do? She’s lost, left fumbling in the dark for the light that’s not there.

Critique:Hi there, you have so many thoughts and feelings packed into a short paragraph. It's an intriguing write, leaving the reader to wonder who she is talking to. The format of the write made me rush the read a little & I had to read it a few times to take it all in. I don't know if it was your intention to convey a sense of urgency, almost panic. Have you thought of writing it as free verse? The line breaks could separate the thoughts, slow the read down a little. Just a suggestion (I sent you an example by IM). Good write.

Critique:Wow! What a compelling first segment/or page to a much larger work, I hope. Oh, this is the second 4 star rating I have given out today, this is great! A four star rating is a sign that the material is up to publication standards. Even if this is not the entire "essay, chapter or poem" I loved every moment of reading it! There is a little bit of a mystery, the "her" in this segment. I was not sure if this was about a woman who was longing for her female companion, or if the "her" was the girl herself and she was looking at herself from a different perspective. Nonetheless, this is something worth adding to. I really hope you do add more to this. We need to learn more about what is going on if it is an essay. For poetry, there does not need to be a defined answer.   PS. The member forum is down, I was not told about it until this evening. I have contacted our web developer and it should be up and running soon. Thank you for your patiences while we continue working on it. :)--Please keep writing, I am already a fan.

Critique:Took me for a ride, an urgency from deep within and has to be solved from within. A question of some sort that has to be answered or an unanswered knowledge seeking truth, maybe I am wrong but that is how it made me feel. Enjoyed you write. there could be alot more to this once she finds the answers she needs and what she does with them.
