Valentine (Acrostic)

Vermilion blooms and velveteen hearts;

Aspects of romance accentuate a crumbling veneer.

Lyrics of once favourite songs lament and linger,

Echoing through dying embers.

Nostalgic thoughts fail to rekindle the so-called eternal flame.

Time taints and twists the truth,

In my mind only perfection remains,

No reasons for us not to be

Except of course, love flows only in one direction.

Critique:	A heartfelt Valentine read this is Sharon, and I especially liked how it veers away from the typical love poem, yet still holds a lot of truth...I do think that you have a way with acrostics that ties each letter together, like seams in a blanket that totally captures the essence of the word. Wonderful write as always, looking forward to reading more...thanks again for sharing this

Critique:	Your collection of beautiful acrostics is growing indeed, Sharon! I love the alliterations you included in this, especially, "Truth taints and twists the truth", it rolls off the tongue really well, and it's so true too! It is full of emotion indeed and I think a lot of people can relate to this one too. The last line was quite a clincher, adding more depth to this beautiful poem. Critique:	I have read a few poem like these, and for the most part they never seem to work that well. The first letter of each work spells the title, and for me the rest of the line rarely tells what that word speaks. What you have here does work and works well. The two parts od this work works as one and what a wonderful work it is. Your flow in this from one line to the next is great it start at a certain point and builds evanly to the end...........joe

Critique:	A true Valentine indeed! Excellent stuff Sharon. Love the way you depict the changes that come about with the passage of time.
