- THE DRAGON KING'S DAUGHTER -

Synopsis

This is a science fiction story - a fantasy tale, encompassing the kinds of 'loneliness', bias, and the challenges faced that females have endured for all time.   Our adventure takes place on a fantasy planet and tells the story of obstacles overcome by a young princess in becoming queen over a land dominated by males and male-thinking.  Current leaders are capable only of 'dualistic' thinking; driven by greed, anger and stupidity; who believed like the ancient Hebrews and Greeks on Planet Earth, that a woman is a 'virgin' until she bares a son, and that is her only role in life.

THE Princess is 'mystically' gifted, seeks enlightenment, and has numerous out-of-body, off-planet experiences that enable her to encounter 'mentors'.  Ultimately, she becomes the most wise, and most capable warrior in her galaxy, also the most vilified person ever.  However, to stop the internal wars waged by males for eons, and causing the planet, and the quality of life, to deteriorate rapidly,  she must overcome numerous obstacles, not the least of which is to be recognized as 'queen'. Her chief mentors are Miyamoto Musashi, a renowned 16th century Samauri, and Nichiren Daishonin,  a 13th Century monk from the now extinct Planet Earth, who become her principal teachers/mentors, her spirit-guides, in life.

Her planet long ago abandoned much of its higher forms of technology to remain 'safe' from invasion by other planets, consequently its weaponry is 'primitive - sword, staff, bow and arrow, spear, etc.  The Princess is figuratively alone and must remonstrate against every leader, including her father, the Dragon King, the most powerful of all leaders on her entire planet.  She must also gain a following of courageous supporters.  She establishes a 'secret' school adhering to the model and images planted into her subconscious by her nanny/nurse.

As a child she was nursed by a Lotus-sorceress, who, in reality is a soul that normally inhabits thought-worlds, but has incarnated as a living being to help the Princess fulfill her destiny. Her nurse, Yoshiko, had ascended to a Master Spirit-Being, free of limitations.  They were also called ‘Great Ones'.

The planet is the most desirable in the Galaxy possessing abundant floral, water, mineral and other natural resources.  Centuries ago, using technology which had been developed following a horrific interplanetary war, a magnetic shield was constructed to keep future invaders out.  Now, the greater threats were those of internal strife, the wars for power and control waged by greedy local governments.

Anyone who can fathom and embrace what takes place in this tale of adventure, growth and victory already has seen into his or her own future.

Critique: This synopsis seemed to me to be overwhelming with ambition while lacking any kind of story development- just one twist and turn after another, like a string of ideas. Also it seems very involved in personal idealisms, to the point where it almost comes off as hostile. Exibiting not female equality, but superiority. It violates the status quo, imagine a story written which takes place in a land which is dominated by women who are only capable 'dualistic thinking', driven by greed anger and stupidity. It would seem the author is some kind of woman hating bigot. But again it's only fiction. Then there's the part about the planet abandoning its higher forms of technology to remain safe from invasion, that just doesn't make sense to me. It seems they would be much easier to invade if the planet had no weaponry. In a brilliant quote by Jake Hannah; "I like imagine a world without hate, without violence, without war; Then I like to imagine destroying that world because they'd never expect it." The biggest problem I have with this story is that it is all over the place with things like Lotus-sorceresses thought-worlds, 13th century samuri from the extinct planet earth - which must mean either that planet earth became extinct in the 13th century or that the Samuri has been somehow preserved into the future or something.  It's really overwhelming to me. Try to pick a focus for the story, a central conflict, give some direction.   PS feel free to comment on any or all of my stories

Critique:I just loved this piece, mostly because there are so many descriptions used. The fantasy world you have created here is incredible. I am not sure if I see myself in this piece as you suggested, but I admire your ability to create such an intriguing world with a woman at its center, lol. Go girls!

Critique:Had my attention throughout the read. Excellent beginning to a science fiction journey that the hero (princess) has to endour before she can improve her planet's human condition. You set your imagination in gear so run with it, well written and so much potencial. Love science fiction, keep writing. Dennis
