The Dino King

Cat Cassidy dreamed of adventures.

He dreamed of sailing the sea.

He dreamed of wonderful treasures of the freedom that only could be,

found on the great blue ocean,

found in the great unknown.

So here begins the story of the courage he had shown.

He sailed for a year and a night, I was told,

The adventures grande and bright.

When a wind began blowing so fierce and so bold,

monstrous waves turned day to night.

The storm tossed that ship all over the sea as furious and nasty as it could be.

But than as suddenly as it had come

the waves became gentle

but the damage was done.

The ship was in ruins, it started to sink,

Cat had to act fast there was no time to think.

He spotted an island,

dove over the rail

Then swam as fast as the swiftest sail.

At last in the darkest hour his feet touched strong soft land.

He crawled up the beach as far as he could

and collapsed on the soft warm sand.

Then slept and slept and slept then slept some more as if in gods strong hand.

When finally at last he awoke, the sun shining bright in the sky

he awoke in the enormous shadow of a dino with spikes down each side.

Cat started to scream when the Dino bent near but in a sweet voice she said,

"You have nothing to fear. I am a plant eater. My name is Dolores and I come from the clan they call Stegosaurus. I do not eat meat, oh goodness no, not me! I only eat plants as you will soon see."

Than She nuzzled Cats chin with her stout scaley nose and tickled his feet as she licked on his toes.

And They laughed and they played and they had so much fun and then they went home to meet everyone.

The first one he met was a Dino called Pops who had come from the clan called triceratops.

"I may be old my little man but I’m the boldest of the clan. I’ll teach you to think I’ll teach you to fight. I’ll protect you and guide you from the dangers of night. Together we’ll live and do what is right."

Then Cat felt a tremor. He ran to Dolores, "Oh thats only Betty the great Brontosaurus,

Don’t be so scared only plants do we eat and we’ll keep you safe from the ones who eat meat. Because they live here too through those trees over there. And if you get lost, you better beware. For the meat eaters watch us they always can see. And if you get caught they’ll take you to T. They call him T Rex the dinosaur king. He’ll gobble you up and not leave a thing. No! he’ll not leave a thing. So follow me closely and do as I say so you don’t get eaten the meat eater way."

Just like he had said, Pops taught him well.

From learning to fight to the name of each shell.

He learned the island like the back of his hand from every cave to each tree in the land.

He learned every sound the good and the bad and he grew up proud but he grew up mad.

For when he got older he started to stray through the forest of trees where the meat eaters stay.

He was tired of living in fear of the king he was so much smarter than that pea-brained thing.

So he gathered an army that he trained with Pops. He created weapons from branches and rocks.

They learned maneuvers and strategy.

And when they were ready they took it to T.

But T Rex was ready his soldiers were too,

ready to feast on these soft hearted fools.

Or so the king thought.

They fought all the night

and fought all the day.

They battled

and battled

and battled away.

Than finally at last came the fight with old T, as ferocious as any monster could be.

He even fought better than Cat Cassidy.

But he wasn’t as brave as you will soon see.

Cat Cassidy was beaten.

Or so T had thought.

He turned to walk away but then he was caught

in a massive trap set by Cats friends.

A plan that was planned from beginning to end.

T Rex started roaring "Let me go, let me go!" than all of a sudden tears started to flow.

And the plant eaters laughed and prodded and poked.

And when their beloved Cat Cassidy awoke

he pointed his finger in old Rex’ face and told him, "You better get out of this place!

Your time here has ended. No more pain will you bring,

the dinos are free now because

I’m the new King!

Critique:I can see a child in awe then relieved with the ending, you have all the ingredience to fasinate a child's mind, good plot, presentation, and your rhyming was as consistant as possible. Can you see your plot in a children's book with illustrations, I can, could it sell, I think so!
