“I don’t know,”  Shannon
told her boyfriend.

“Please, Babe, just this one time,” he begged.

“Seth,” she said, agitation in her voice, “please. Not now.”

“Okay, later then,” he replied with a nod and a smile.

“Fine,” She replied, annoyed.

Shannon and Seth had been dating for 3 years. Seth wanted to
have sex. Shannon was not in the mood to do it because she was afraid of what
might happen. She was afraid she might get an STD, or worse, pregnant.

Shannon looked at Seth frustrated,

“Do you always want to have sex?” She demanded.

“No, not all the time,” he lied, “we just haven’t done it
yet and I want to know when you’re ready.”

“Oh, well I’ll tell you when I’m ready, don’t rush things,”
she told him.

“Honey, we’ve been dating for 3 fucking years! You should be
ready by now!” he yelled.

“You know what? I’m going home now! See you later.” She
said, getting up. She stalked off toward the door, yanked it open, and then
twirled around.

“Don’t be such an ass!” she screamed.

“Yeah, bye!” he
said, and slumped into his chair, pissed. Shannon slammed the door and left.

When Shannon got home she went straight
to her room, not even saying hi to her mother. She lay on her bed and thought
about the fight she had with Seth. What
should I do? Should I call him adn apologize and tell him I have my period?
He’ll probably understand why I was yelling. Should I be ready to have sex with him? He is right it has been 3 years. Maybe I should talk to my mom.

“MOM!!” She yelled loudly.

Her mom walked in the room and sat down next to her.

“What’s up Sweetie?”

“I’m having a bit of a relationship problem. I just got into
a fight with Seth.”

“About what?” She asked.

“Well, he’s always asking me if I’m ready to have sex; and
I’m not sure if I am.”

“Well if you want to be safe about it don’t make the wrong
choice. If you want to have sex now, use a condom.”

“And if it breaks?” She asked.

“Then you’ll have to see what happens.”

“Thanks mom,” She said, feeling a little confused, but
better, “I love you.”

“Love you, too, Hon.” Shannon gave her mom a hug and her mom
left.

Shannon began to think about what
her mom said. She’s kinda giving me
permission to have sex - I think. Well, I’ll call Seth and apologize and tell
him that I made up my mind and that I’m ready. She took out her phone and
dialed Seth’s number. He picked up with an edge to his voice

 “Hello?!” he snapped

“Hey Babe, listen I’m sorry about earlier, I have my period,
and you know how I get.”

“Yeah, I’m sorry too,” he said, his voice instantly
softening, “I don’t want to rush things for you, If you’re not ready I’m fine
with that.”

“Actually that’s what I called you about,” she replied.

“Really? What did you want to talk about?” He asked.

“Well, I’ve been thinking and – well, you’re right, we’ve
been dating for 3 years now, and I love you and I feel so safe with you, and,
well, I think we should have sex.”

“Really?” He asked happily.

“Yes. I’m just saying right now that you have to wear a
condom. I don’t want anything to happen.”

“I was planning on wearing one. I have the same feeling as
you.”

“Okay, good.” She said. “So when do you want to do it?”

“Is tonight okay?” He asked.

“Yeah that’s fine; I’ll be over in like 10 or 20 minutes.”

“Okay, see you soon.”

“Yup, love you.”

“Love you too.”

Shannon went downstairs and told
her mom she apologized to Seth. Her mom was happy to hear that. She also told
her that she was headed over there, that moment. Her mom knew why she was going
there and said,

“Have fun!”

“Uhm thanks?” Shannon replied,
somewhat horrified.

Shannon got into her car and arrived at his house in 10
minutes just like she said. She got out of her car and ran to give him a hug.

“So are your parents home?” She asked him.

“No they’re on a business trip in Canada.”

“Canada? Hahahaha. That’s the most boring part of North
America!” She laughed.

“Yes I know. But I bet they’re having fun.”

They headed up to his room and he
closed the door behind them. She went to his bed and sat on it, patting the
blanket next to her, gesturing him to sit next to her. When he got on the bed,
she pulled him into a deep kiss, and began exploring his body with her hands.
He followed, and soon, they were undressing each other. The kiss deepened, and
soon, they were completely naked, and Seth was on top of her.

An hour passed by and they were
still having sex. Just then Shannon’s cell phone rang. It was her mom.

“Hold on I gotta take this, it’s my
mom.”

“Okay,” He replied

“Hello?” she answered.

“Hey Honey, so how is it?”

“What the fuck? Why are you asking me this?”

“Well I want to know how your first time is,” she replied.

“Uh - Well…not that it’s any of your business, but it’s…
great!”
“That’s good Sweetie. Is he wearing a condom?”

“Yes, Mom he’s wearing a con… uhhh… can I call you back?”
She said nervously.

“Yeah ,sure.”

“Okay. Talk to you later. Bye.”

“Bye Sweetie.”

            Shannon
hung up the phone and looked at Seth scared.

“Babe… What’s wrong?” He asked.

“I-It broke…” She said.

He looked down to see that it had broke.

“Oh shit,” he said.

“I think we should stop for now,” She said nervously.

“I agree.” He said. “Do you wanna go home for the night?” He
asked. “

Yeah, I’ll call you tomorrow.”

“Okay. Bye Babes. Love you.”

“Love you too.”

            Shannon got
home and went straight to her mom. Her mom looked up and saw that Shannon had a
nervous look on her face.

“Honey what’s wrong?”

“Uh mom… the condom… broke.” She said.

“Oh Honey I’m sorry.”

“Uhmmm…. You were the one that said make sure the condom
doesn’t break.”

“No you were the one that said, ‘And if the condom breaks…?”

“Oh yeah… Well I’m tired Ma I’m gonna go to sleep, see you
in the morning.”

“Okay, good night.”

“Good night.”

            Shannon ran
up the stairs and went to sleep. She woke up in the morning and got ready for
school. When she got to school she went up to her best friend Megan and told
her about her night.

“Wow seems like fun.” She said. “Haha kinda, except for the
fact that the condom broke.”

“That’s not good.” She said scared.

“Yeah I know.”

“So are you gonna take a pregnancy test in a few weeks?”

“I actually haven’t thought about that,” She admitted.

“Well now you know to take one.”

“Yeah. I’ll do that.”

            6 weeks
later Shannon drove to the drug store to buy a pregnancy test. She knew the
cashier well and the look on her face made Shannon laugh.

“HAHA!”

“What’s so funny?” She asked.

“The look on your face when I came up with the pregnancy
test!”

“Oh. Well I never expected to see you buy one.”

“Well I am, just to make sure.”

“Oh well, good luck.”

“Thanks Nancy!”

            Shannon got
home and ran to the bathroom. She took the test and waited about 5 minutes to
look at it. When she looked at the result her face dropped.

“Well I’ve made a mistake.”

“Uhh mom come here for a sec.” Her mom walked in and looked
in her hand

. “Are you pregnant?” She asked nervously. “

Yup… Mom what the hell do I do?! I don’t want to get an
abortion it’s technically killing a human being!”

“Well you can always look into adoption.” She said.

“Yeah I’ll think about it. If Seth wants to keep it then
we’ll keep it.”

“Good idea.”

“Okay sweetie”

            She ran
upstairs and grabbed her phone. She dialed Seth’s number and he picked up,
“Hello?”

“Hey babe, it’s me.” She said calmly.

“Oh hey what’s up?”

“Seth I’m pregnant.” She said with eyes full of tears.

“Oh my god Babe I’m so sorry! Why did I do this to you?” He
said sympathetically.

“It’s not your fault Seth. You weren’t the one who made the
condom break.”

“I know but still it’s my sperm.” He said.

“Okay haha not the kind of info I want to hear right now,”
She said.

“Haha, sorry babe.”

“So do you want to keep the baby or give it up for
adoption?”

“Keep it. I’ve always wanted a baby.”

“Okay.”

“Okay.”

“So I’m gonna call Megan. I’ll talk to you later.”

“Okay, bye.”

 “Bye.”

            Shannon
hung up with Seth and immediately called Megan. Megan answered the phone and
said,

“Hey Shan!”

“Hi Meg!”

“So are you prego?”

“Haha yeah… Not so happy though.”

“Yeah I wouldn’t be if I were you.”

“Yeah, well I have to go, I have a doctors appointment in 20
minutes.”

“Okay, I’ll talk to you later.”

“Yup. Bye.”

            Shannon
hung up and walked down stairs and told her mom she was going to the doctors.
She got into her car and drove to the doctors. When she got back her mother was
sitting in the living room with Seth and his parents. Seth’s mother came up to
Shannon and gave her a big hug.

“How was Canada?” She asked his mother.

“It was fun and businessy.

“That’s good.” Seth gave Shannon a kiss and went home.

“What’s his issue?” She asked his mother.

“I have no idea.”

“Oh, well I’m going to bed. Good night.”

“Good night!” Everyone said.

            3 months
later Shannon went to the doctors to get an ultrasound. “Well Shannon, the baby
looks healthy.” He said happily.

“Good!” She said joyfully. “Thanks doc.”

“Yup.”

“Have a good day. I’ll see you in a few months for your next
check up.”

“Okay. Bye.”

            Shannon got
home and called Seth to tell him that the baby looks healthy. She told him she
would find out the sex of the baby in 2 months. He wasn’t really happy because
he wanted to know right then.

“Sorry Babe but that’s how it is. You can come with me when
I find out.” She said.

“Nah, I’m fine it would kinda be weird.”

“How would it be weird?” She asked.

“I have no idea I just don’t really want to be there.”

“Oh that’s fine.”

“Well I’m gonna go and get something to eat.”

“Okay. Love you.”

“Love you too. Bye.”

“Bye.”

            2 months
later Shannon went to the doctors to see if she’s having a girl or a boy. The
doctor came in and told her she’s having a baby girl.

“Yes!!!!! Thanks you doctor!”  The doctor smiled and walked out. Shannon
went home and told her mom that she’s having a baby girl. Her mom got really
excited. She called Seth and he was so happy to find out the sex of the baby.

“Yes! I’m so happy it’s a girl!”

“You wanted a girl?” She asked him curiously. “Yeah, I like
baby girls, they’re all beautiful.”

“Yes they are.”

“Hey so I’m gonna call Megan and tell her the sex.” “

Okay.”

“Bye.”
“Bye.”

            Shannon
hung up with Seth and called Megan.

“Hey Meg, so I’m having a girl.”

“Oh that’s great!” She said excitedly.

“I know! I’m so happy it’s a girl!”

“So are you going to have a baby shower?”

“I don’t know yet, I still have to ask my mom.”

“Oh, okay.”

“Yeah, I’ll ask her now. I’ll call you later.”

“Okay bye.”

“Bye.”

            Shannon
went downstairs and asked her mom if she can have a baby shower. Her mom was
fine with it. She said everyone has a baby shower. Shannon wanted to have it in
a few weeks and her mom was fine with it.

 “Thanks mom!”

“You’re welcome sweetie.” Shannon went to the kitchen and
started to make a list of people of who she wanted to go to the baby shower.
She had 30 people. Her mom said that that was a good amount of people.

            When the
baby shower came she got a lot of gifts, she got a crib, clothes, diapers, a
high chair, toys, baby wash, and a lot of other baby stuff.

“Thanks for the gifts everyone I love them!” The party
finally ended and Shannon and Seth were kind of sad that it was over. Shannon
and her mom and Seth started to pack their cars with all of the gifts.

Shannon got home and started to put
all of the gifts in the living room and her mother said that she wanted to show
her something. She walked into the guest bedroom and saw that her mom made the
guest bedroom into a nursery.

“OH MY GOD, thanks Mom, this is
great!”  Shannon and her mom started
putting all the gifts in the nursery and setting it up.

4 months later Shannon woke up in a
puddle of water in her bed. Her water just broke. “Oh God. MOM!!!! My water
broke!!!” Her mom ran up the stairs and helped her out of the bed. They rushed
down the stairs and got to the car. When they got to the hospital she
immediately had the baby. Seth arrived at the hospital and rushed to Shannon.

“Hey babe!” “

Hi Seth.”

“Where’s the baby?”

“She’s in the other room.”

“Okay.”

“I’m so happy she’s here.”

“Me too.”

“What are we going to name her?”
Seth asked.

“Elizabeth Marie.”

“What a great name!” Said Shannon’s
mother.

“I love it!” Said Seth.

            Shannon had
to stay in the hospital with the baby for a few more days. When she finally got
home she put the baby in her crib and said to her,

“Rest now my baby, for there’s a whole life ahead of you.”
She kissed the baby and put her to sleep.
