The Lightning Raid

Patrols on guard
and dogs everywhere
we searched the caves and coves
but the sniper's still out there

the rain splatters us
as the sirens begin to sound
the island is in danger
their planes are shadows in the sky

they're here to take it
take it away
they're gonna land on our shores
as the storm rages on
its a lightning raid

the AA guns go off
though they're destroyed
we watch as they their planes
mercilessly mow our defenses down

the paratroopers land
illuminated by the lightning
they advance towards the Lab
as we tighten up the defenses

they're here to take it
take it away
they're gonna land on our shores
as the storm rages on
its a lightning raid

we repel the attacks
as we radio in for support
the storm cools down
as their reinforcements begin to arrive

the Lab goes up in smoke
and so do most of the defendants
the secret is safe with me though
as I run to the secret passage

they're here to take it
take it away
they're gonna land on our shores
as the storm rages on
its a lightning raid

Survival is so close
just have to break open this door
what's this? the door's unlocked
this could only mean one thing
(sound of door swinging open. then a gunshot)

they're here to take it
take it away
they're gonna land on our shores
as the storm rages on
its a lightning raid

Critique:I read one of your other songs recently, the Watchman, and didn't relate to it probably because of where I reside, in the US, and in the country. Song writing is more cultural then in most forms of literature, but this song I did relate to. Mostly because war is such a universal problem right now. It seems everyone is at war, in some fashion. Although, I can walk down my road in little fear, there is that fear just beneath the skin, "where will the next acts of terrorism occur." The words in this song were powerful, and striking. There is a good use of rhyme as well. I don't know much about song writing, but I do enjoy listening to music. Songs that relay a message that can enlighten those who listen, it can be an effective way to communicate, educate and to inform people about an issue that they are also concerned with. I'm reading this post while watching a documentary about an American journalist being kidnapped then murdered, I think that is why it has hit me so strongly. To be safe in my room, knowing there are so many who wake in fear. It doesn't seem right. Thanks for posting your song lyrics, well done!
