Contemplation
Others have walked here, though their voices are now silent. Even so, when I listen with my heart, I still can hear them. I can feel the tears they’ve cried of both joy and sorrow.
They know me and I know them.
I, too, have had presence here before. So I stand in reverent silence at the center of the Rose of the Four Winds ... at the center of the universe. I know not where the winds will carry me. With my hands uplifted and my face toward the sun, I give thanks for what was, what is, and what shall be.
The winds are dancing all around me in a never-ending circle, in an ever-flowing stream, flowing in and out of my body through my fingertips, giving and receiving through the top of my head and the soles of my feet.
I am a part of the Four Winds. I am the stream. Death and birth are twin souls as are dark and light. No one knows the beginning nor the end. I am nothing ... I am everything. I am.

| Critique: | I really enjoyed reading this one! It brought out feelings of connectedness with the rest of humanity and our being alive. I really liked how this came out in your word choice, which made the big picture apparent and placed us inside of it. Great write. ~Andrew |

| Critique: | This is beautiful ... Deeply spiritual and very much in tune with my own spiritual path. I'm not familiar with the Rose of Four Winds, but I can view it as a metaphor for the compass..perhaps, though on a grander scale. This imparts a great sense of peace and well being. Excellantly written. |

| Critique: | I don't like a lot of the poetry that's written today, but this piece is absolutely superb, I could live in it and will like it for a long time - maybe longer than that. I really like ethereal stuff. I should say that I don't usually go overboard on anything, but it is the best I've read for many a long day.
Nice one... David Lavisher. |

The images in this poem are so vivid and well written, it blows me away. The structure is also well done; I think you could get this published. I am working on a publishing guide, for writers on the site, in the middle of a college quarter. It should be completed by mid December. Let me know if you have had your work published before. I also suggest taking the poetry workshop, we offer it for free, and it may also be nice to share your work with new/beginning students of poetry. Great job!
