Turning Leaves

dissolving summers yield a muted sheen

and drawn-out shadows over meadows sprawl;

like dappled sunlight, golden peppered  green,

the newly turning leaves sketch hints of fall,

in subtle hues at first, to softly blend

and blur the edge of treasured memories

with paths uncharted, yet to comprehend,

still ruffled by the scent of last night's breeze.

An autumn palette, growing ever deep,

brings ochre, reds and russets from the past,

a richly coloured crop of times to reap

and weave a tapestry to ever last.

Critique:hi Sharon!! :D How are you? Happy 2012 to you! And I sure am glad to read this --- You definitely captured that picturesque autumn scene here-- upon reading it, I can't help but think of my father's photos of autumn when they were in Brockway...beautiful words as always, and I love how you sued all those colors here... this write just comes across as so vivid to me :) New year hugs to you :D

Critique:You display true artistry within this work. Your description and scene setting is  beautiful to witness and I readily admit that I cannot come close to the skill and mastery you exhibit here within this peice.  There is a majesty, grace and authority within this work, that demands rightly both attention and respect from the reader..This is just a little bit alot special.

Critique:I could read poems about Fall all day. It's probably one of my favorite seasons and always seems to inspire beautiful writes like this. You didn't leave out a single autumn color in your tribute. Excellent job! : )
