The Garden
Once upon a time there was a garden in a school in India, so the children of the school could learn how to grow plants. One of the boys in the school loved the pretty rosents in the garden. There were leabssoms in the garden and the birds of the garden sang beautiful volodies. He always loved going there.
On the last day of school, at the start of the summer holidays, when his mother collected him from dismissal she suggested "Lets go see the garden." "Yippadoodle!" shouted the boy with great excitement.
When they got there they saw that everything was getting spoilt. The leabssoms and rosents were dying, but the bird's volodies were still sweet. The boy had a gift that he never told anyone about. He could understand what the volodies were about. Then one day he told his mother about his unusual gift. She asked him to listen to the birds and tell her what the volodies meant.
He spent a long time listening. Sadly he said "The volodies tell of sad things. The leabssoms and rosents are going to die because there will be no rain for weeks. There is going to be no rain for a long time. We must go think of a way to solve the problem or our lovely garden will be no more."
Back at home they had ice cool popscicles to cheer up. Since the boy was very clever, he soon thought of a solution. He said to his Mom "I know of a plan. Let us water the garden by hand, using the garden hose, then the plants won't die."
Three days a week they started to go back to the garden and water it. After ten weeks of watering and caring for the garden everything was happy again and the plants were not dying any longer. And luckily for them, the rain they were all waiting for began to come down and once again everything was lush and green.
Summer was over and on the first day of school, in second grade, the boy told all the school children and his teacher what he had done. Everybody was so proud of him.
