The Second Untitled Titled Story of the AAE
"Yes, sir." Arisone said. She nodded her head as she said it. She knew it would come to this. She would have to face a court eventually. "Is it true that Mr. Milkoswitz asked about the rights he had as a part of the Interglobal Government?" the lawyer asked. He stared Arisone in the eye, trying to intimidate her. "Yes, sir." She wouldn't break. There was no defense for a man who tried to be the next "ruler of the universe". She knew it. It didn't matter if this lawyer had lost zero cases in twenty years. She was an Emissarium, and the descendant of the creator of the AAE at that. "What was your reply to Mr. Milkoswitz's inquiry to his designated rights as a human begin and global citizen?" the lawyer said, twisting his word to make Egor Milkoswitz seem less guilty. "I replied that his rights were terminated as stated in the Interglobal Code of Peace." she said, thinking back to the day everyone called her a hero. She had solved the answer to one question that could have sent the Earth into the steep spiral of dictatorship. She had figured out the password to the virus sent into global headquarters of the AAE. The AAE was a computer system invented by Aimilie Ezra in 2025 that took control of diplomacy, military, trade, and everyday life. The AAE had crashed four months ago and Emissarium, the head scientists who worked on and controlled the AAE, had not known the answer. Then, in an amazing stroke of brilliance, Arisone had Egor and his sidekick, James captured and the AAE was up and running. "Where did you get your information on the termination of Mr. Milkoswitz?" the lawyer said, trying to make her slip up, to say something that would discredit her. "My source was from the Interglobal Code of Peace itself. In Article 24, Section 5, Paragraphs 2 through 5 it states that a traitor, terrorist, or otherwise harm to international safety has the rights stated in the above sections, until they cause harm, destruction, damage, or otherwise intervene or hamper the activities leading to the well-being of any nation. If there is suspicion of misuse of this section, it will be determined by an interglobal council consisting of at least ten countries and three representatives of the nation or nations in peril. Those representatives shall justify the reasons for the invalidation of the accused's rights." Arisone said. She was determined to prove that she had not done wrong. This was not her trial, it was Egor's. He was the one who had tried to bring "back" Russia. He was the one who had twisted the reputation of the Communist USSR to try and destroy the AAE and interglobal peace. "May I ask you what you believe Mr. Milkoswitz has done to harm the well-being of any nation? To clarify my question, you have been noted as suggestion Mr. Milkoswitz as an attempted murder. How is that so?" "First, I must state that the AAE system controls almost everything. That includes the military. If there are false signals sent, many things can happen. That includes mass failures, leading to the death of many men and women. Not to mention what would happen if there was a false declaration of war. If one is responsible for a death, is it not called murder when it is intentional?" By the time she was through, she knew it was one small victory. It was inconceivable that after four months there was any question to what Egor had done. The chip was tested and proved to have been made on his laptop. He was found on the run in the Aleutian Islands. He had practically confessed! "I have nothing more to ask this witness. The defense rests." The lawyer said. "Thank you for the clarification, Ms. Ezra. You may step down now." the head of the interglobal council, who was presiding over the trial, said. Arisone stepped off the stand and walked out the doors. As a key witness, she was not allowed to hear other testimonies. She was walking down the hallway in the compound when someone pulled her into a room on her left. There was no light in the room. As her eyes adjusted she could only see the outline of the person who grabbed her. "Did you testify already?" the voice of the black outline said. There was a hint of an accent, Scandinavian perhaps. "Y... yes." Arisone stuttered. Did she know this voice? "You must go to the council and say you lied on the stand, or else." The voice said. Arisone saw a swift movement and felt the cold spikes of a NeruoGun pressed to the side of her head. NeuroGuns were guns that sent a painful, electric shock through the body, and could be set on variable settings, and, with certain modifications, a lethal one. "Why? I said the truth." Arisone said. As soon as she said it she wished she could change what she said. The spikes were pushed harder into her head. "You will be very sorry." The voice said. "When?" Arisone asked, referring to when she would go to the council. "Tomorrow afternoon. You must not make it suspicious. Request an appointment for and urgent matter with the head. Say you thought about your testimony overnight and felt guilty about lying on the stand. You must admit you never told Egor Milkoswitz his rights were terminated, invalidating his capture. Do you understand me?" "Yes." As the saboteur pushed her out into the hall, Arisone saw a streak of light hit short, shoulder-length black hair. Once in the hall, without a single glance back, Arisone walked over to an automated water cooler and took a drink. She walked down the hall, out the door, and to a hover jet. As the hover jet flew her to her hotel, she had one of her legendary self-reflections. She had may over the past few months. What was she going to do? She couldn't lie, first of all it would be wrong, and second, she would be giving Egor a mistrial. It would be exactly what the mysterious person wanted. She would be completely discredited. The hover jet landed and she stepped out of the round vehicle and walked through the automatic doors into the hotel. She stepped onto an escalator that was standard on every public building around. She walked into the suite she rented and sat in the chair. She wanted to cry and scream at the same time. Right before she crossed the edge of her emotional breakdown, her watch beep-ed. She looked down at the familiar electronic screen. It read "Call from Jeff Rollings". Arisone accepted the call. "Hello, Jeff." She said. "How is everything going?" Jeff asked. Arisone didn't know if it was safe to tell him. "As good as can be expected under the circumstances." Arisone said. Actually, it wasn't a lie. Of course, you had to remember the circumstances were being blackmailed on the threat of death. Actually, she really wasn't doing that bad at all. "That is a relief. How is Madam President?" "She is fine. The Queen of England and she have been on a shopping trip." "Man, I am sorry I missed that." She joked. "That is what I told her. Arisone, she is worried about you and so am I. We have heard about the lawyer's tactics. It is intense. How are you really holding up?" "Trust me, the lawyer isn't the problem." "Fine. When do you think the trial will be over?" "Oh, I'm not really sure. It could be soon, or it might drag on." "Well, I have to go, but make sure to keep in touch." "Will do, bye." Arisone said, clicking off the watch. Arisone sat on her bed reading, and fell asleep like that. When she woke up in the morning, she rubbed her face with her hands. She got dressed. She looked into the mirror in the bathroom. What am I doing, she thought. She couldn't just roll over. She had to fix this. Whoever had threatened her would be watching. She had to outsmart them. Arisone arrived at the courthouse on time. Well, it was on time for her. She had three minutes to spare. She stood outside the door until she heard the thud of the gavel. She threw open the doors. She might as well make this dramatic, right? People throughout the courtroom stared in pure shock. "Ms. Ezra, what is the meaning of this?" the head of the council asked. "Your honor, I have a problem with my testimony. I need to revise it." Arisone said. Murmurs surrounded her. "Bailiff, please escort Ms. Ezra to our chambers. This court is hereby in recess for one hour." Arisone was still working on her plan in her head. "New evidence was recently brought to my attention and it call the legitimacy of this trial into question. I am forced to call for an investigation. Until such time, the trial is suspended." John said. He banged the gavel and walked to his chambers. Egor had a triumphant smile on his face. Arisone strode out of the doors ahead of everyone. "I've got it!" Arisone screamed. It was a week later. She had days of sleepless nights. Her green eyes were tired from staring endlessly at computer screens. The people at her table looked up. There was George St. Clair, Catherine James, Shane O'Conner, and Karem Dareem. They were all Emissariums from other countries. They had been the ones to help her solve the problems with the AAE when Egor had sabotaged it. "Where?" Catherine said. "Egor has been romantically linked to Alyssa Pernell. ‘Ms. Pernell was rejected for the job of Head Emissarium in the United States of America when it was uncovered she had been a Russian spy. Pernell was accepted as a member of the AAE survey team in the Aleutian Islands.' We have it!" Arisone read from the computer. She had searched every inch of Egor's life and found it! "Does it have a picture of her and contact information?" Kareem asked. "Yes." Arisone said in a daze. The woman who showed up in the picture confirmed all of her suspicions. Alyssa Pernell had a light complexion, blue eyes, and black, shoulder-length hair. It was the woman who had threatened Arisone. "She is smarter than her boyfriend. She disabled the tracking element in her watch." Shane said. George was already on the phone with the council. "Check her NeuroGun." Arisone said. Every weapon had a built in tracking chip, which the general public didn't know about it. In fact, most of the people who made, or modified, weapons didn't know about it. "She is close to Chile. She is in the water." One of them called out. Arisone's adrenaline was pumping. "I am going with these hover jets." Arisone said. "Are you sure?" Catherine said, but it was no good. Arisone was gone. She was out the door and at the nearest airport in an instant. The hover jet was a new model. It went three times as fast at 2400 km/h (approximately 1491 mph). They arrived at the Chilean border quickly. A ship pulled up not long after. Arisone looked around the decks. The MPs, Military Police, had the exits blocked off. Arisone spotted her. Alyssa Pernell had dark glasses and a blue outfit. Arisone grabbed her arm. "Let go!" Alyssa yelled. "I, Arisone Drea Ezra, hereby declare your rights, as stated in the Interglobal Code of Peace, invalidated on the grounds of terrorism. Alyssa Jane Pernell, you are under arrest for the attempted murder of an Emissarium, terrorism against the interglobal community, and blackmail. Your rights have been stated to you in the presence of the Military Police." Arisone said triumphantly, emphasizing the last sentence. "How did you find me?" Alyssa said. "Well, I guess that will be my secret." Arisone said. Alyssa was tried and convicted on all charges. Egor Milkoswitz was convicted and sentenced to four life sentences for trying to bring down the interglobal community, multiple counts of terrorism, blackmail, conspiring to invalidate an interglobal trial, and conspiring in the attempted murder of an Emissarium. Most importantly, Arisone missed the President's shopping trip. by Hendrick13 (Viewed 930 times)
